In Memoriam

In May of 2000 the repair community lost a talented and respected colleague.

Martin Maki graduated from Western Iowa Tech Community College in 1979 with an AA degree in band instrument repair. From 1981 to 1984 he did a post-repair school apprenticeship with Gerry Evoniuk at Desert Winds. From there he went on to work at various repair shops in the Phoenix area, as well as stores in Oregon and Washington. He returned to Desert Winds in 1993 and is now the repair shop manager.

Martin also studied under Jonathon Landell of the Vermont School of Flute Making. He excels in all facets of woodwind and brass repair, especially hand-made flutes and professional clarinets and saxophones.

Martin was a member of NAPBIRT.
